Daniele E Lucchetta, our HSM Mouthpiece Project Designer, is an accomplished saxophonist with a degree in Music and a PhD in Physics. He currently teaches Physics in University. Although not part of the business itself, Daniele’s contribution has been invaluable. We asked him how he tackles new projects we set him, he had this to say: “Every time I create a mouthpiece project, I think first about the player and his music - this is both the starting point and the ending point, in fact... it is the only point”.

Tonino Jacono, smoked his first pipe while he was enrolled in a University in Italy. After his college days, he became involved in the briar business through his wife’s family. He has been carving pipes for more than 30 years, using only Calabrian briar, which he considers superior to all other briars. Believing it easier to follow the grain of the briar carving by hand, Jacono uses few tools. The quality of his work is universally recognized. He has twice won Best Pipe of Show at the Deep South Classic Pipe Show.

Lorenzo Betti, began as an advisor to many of the speaker manufacturers in the Hinterland of Senigallia (an area renowned in Italy for this kind of work). Not satisfied with the electronics commercially available, Lorenzo built his own workshop in 1996 and embarked on designing a brand new amplifier, powerful enough to drive high end speakers without any subsequent loss of sound quality. Over the years he has become an established name and a master craft worker.
